PDGF

PDGF, or Platelet-Derived Growth Factor, is a powerful protein naturally found in your blood. It plays a key role in healing and skin rejuvenation by stimulating cell growth, collagen production, and tissue repair. In medical spa treatments—like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy—PDGF helps improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and promote a more youthful, radiant appearance.

How Does PDGF Work?

PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor) works by stimulating your body’s natural healing process. When applied or injected during treatments like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), PDGF signals your skin cells to regenerate by:

• Boosting collagen and elastin production
• Enhancing blood flow to the treated area
• Accelerating tissue repair and cell turnover

This results in smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin over time. PDGF essentially tells your body to rebuild and renew from within—naturally.

What Is the Recovery Time After a PDGF Treatment?

Recovery time after a PDGF (PRP) treatment is typically minimal to none. Most clients experience:

• Mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity for 24–72 hours

• Minimal bruising (especially in more delicate areas like under the eyes)

• Little to no downtime, allowing you to resume normal activities the next day

Results begin to show gradually as collagen builds, with skin improving over several weeks. Always follow your provider’s aftercare instructions for best results.

To ensure the best results and minimize side effects, follow these pre-treatment tips before your PDGF (Platelet-Rich Plasma) session:

• Avoid blood-thinning medications (like aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil) for at least 5–7 days before your treatment—unless prescribed by your doctor.
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
• Stay well hydrated—drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your treatment.
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 3 days before.
• Pause active skincare products (like retinol or acids) 2–3 days before your treatment.
• Eat a light meal before your appointment to help prevent lightheadedness.

Let your provider know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any medical conditions that affect blood or healing.

After your PDGF (PRP) treatment, follow these care instructions to support healing and maximize results:

• Avoid touching or washing the treated area for at least 4–6 hours
• No makeup, creams, or active skincare products (like retinol, acids, or vitamin C) for 24–48 hours
• Avoid sun exposure and always wear SPF when outdoors
• Skip strenuous workouts, saunas, and hot showers for 24–48 hours to reduce irritation and swelling
• Do not pick, rub, or exfoliate the treated area while healing
• Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine

Mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity is normal and should subside within a few days. Results improve gradually over the next several weeks as collagen production increases.
