PRP Treatment

PRP is one of the most natural forms of skin rejuvenation that can be injected or applied topically following micro-needling. PRP is sourced directly from your own blood and centrifuged (spun) to separate the red blood cells from the leukocytes and platelets that make up the PRP “liquid gold”. These platelet concentrates are known for their wound healing properties and growth factor release which work to stimulate collagen production.

PRP can be used to soften fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of loose skin and acne scars, lessen hollowing and dark circles under the eyes, and refine skin texture. Other common areas where PRP can be used include the nasolabial fold, marionette lines, lines around the eyes, deep glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows), and deep forehead lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plasma is a component of our blood and contains proteins which help the blood clot and support cell growth. Platelets are found within our blood and are responsible for recognizing and repairing damaged cells by forming a clot. PRP treatments use the body’s own healing process to rejuvenate the skin and promote new cell growth.

During your treatment. a provider will draw blood from your arm. The small vial of blood will be placed and spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. This process concentrates the platelet count to about 4x the normal amount. The platelet rich plasma is then applied topically or injected into the skin for treatment. PRP has been shown to help fade darkness under eyes, provide natural facial volume restoration, and even help with the texture of the skin.

Patients require about 3-4 treatment sessions separated by 4-6 weeks. The final results will not be readily visible for 4-9 months post treatment.

For injections, bruising and swelling is possible, plan 2 weeks ahead of any events/vacations.
For microneedling with PRP/PRF, recovery lasts from 1-2 days with reddened skin, no peeling.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink at least 64 oz of water and eat a good snack before coming to prepare for the blood draw.
• Take 2000 mg of Vitamin C daily before your treatment. The earlier you start, the better!
• Avoid Omega 3s, Turmeric, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic Supplements for 7 days prior.
• To lessen your chance of irritation & redness, pause the use of Retinol & exfoliating acids 3 days before your treatment & for 3 days after.

• DON’T worry, the swelling will come down.
• The treated area may look asymmetrical or uneven (especially in the tear troughs or lips) for up to 10 days following the procedure, this is normal.
• The treated area may feel firm when touched, this is normal.
• You will most likely be bruised and/or swollen following this procedure.
• Usually, best results are seen with a series of 3-4 treatments, depending on each patient’s skin quality and goals.
